Robert H. Spitz Foundation Fall 2024 Grant Cycle Now Open

Starting today, August 1st, 2024, the Robert H. Spitz Foundation has opened the second of its two 2024 grant cycles.

Priority funding areas for the Fall grant cycle include:

  • Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
    • Programs that aim to remove economic barriers, mitigate intergenerational poverty, and encourage independence in adults and children through access to safe, affordable housing, transportation, education, training, and other important issues.
    • Example of qualifying Breaking the Cycle of Poverty requests include:
      • A focus on skills training for workforce re-entry
      • A focus on reducing barriers to employment such as child care and transportation
      • A focus on supporting economic independence
      • A focus on providing assistance to unhoused peoples such as food, clothing, and shelter
  • Environmental Programs
    • Programs/projects that seek to preserve and/or protect the environment; raise awareness and/or educate about climate/environmental issues; and seeks to mitigate the impact of harmful practices to the environment and promote recreation/public health.
    • Example of qualifying Environmental requests include:
      • A focus on carbon footprint reduction.
      • A focus on increasing air and water quality.
      • Conservation of wildlife habitats, open space  greenways, rivers and watersheds.
      • Education on living environmentally friendly lifestyles.

The Robert H. Spitz Foundation’s Fall 2024 grant cycle is the second and final of two planned grant cycles for 2024. The first grant cycle took place in the Spring of 2024 and covered requests in the focus areas of Veterans’ Affairs and Veteran-oriented Programs, Animal Welfare, and Jewish Culture and Cemeteries.

The Robert H. Spitz Foundation, administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation, is pleased to announce its Fall 2024 grant cycle.

Beginning today, Thursday, August 1, 2024, local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for grant funding. The grant application process begins with submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) through the online portal.

LOIs for the Robert H. Spitz Foundation Fall 2024 grant cycle will be due by
Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM.


If invited to apply, grant applications will be due by Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

The Robert H. Spitz Foundation primarily awards grants to registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that support initiatives and programs serving the residents of Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

How to Apply

Please note that the Robert H. Spitz Foundation will ONLY accept grant requests through the online portal. No paper or emailed applications will be accepted.

The grant application process generally begins with submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) through the online portal. To submit an LOI, simply log on to your organization’s account in our online grant management portal. If your organization does not have an account established, you will need to create an account. If you are unsure of your organization’s account credentials, please contact your organization’s leadership to inquire or email us at grants@safdn.posturestage.com for further instruction.

ACCESS ONLINE GRANT MANAGEMENT PORTAL

1. At the login page, please follow the appropriate next step:

a. If you have already created a login: you must login using the credentials you’ve utilized for previous grant applications. NOTE: username is always an email.

b. If someone else in your organization has already created a login: please email grants@safdn.posturestage.com to have a new user added to your organization.

c. If your organization has never accessed our online grant portal, create your account using the following information: 

  • A username that is an email address
  • Your contact information
  • Your organization’s information, including the EIN/Tax ID number (required)
  • Contact information for the organization’s Executive Officer

2. On the applicant dashboard, select “Apply” along the top menu to view available grants.
       

All submitted LOIs will be reviewed and select organizations will be invited to submit a full grant application through the online portal before the grant application deadline.
