The Wilderness Fund Offers Students an Experience of a Lifetime!
WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP? The scholarship provides the full tuition cost plus travel expenses* for a student to participate in an Outward Bound program, the leading provider of outdoor education programs that allow young people to explore their personal potential.
Expeditions include backpacking trips, mountaineering trips, white rafting trips, canoeing trips, dog sledding expeditions, sailing trips and many other offerings.
*Scholarship award up to $5000 is paid directly to Outward Bound to cover cost of the trip. Additional $1,000 reimbursement of travel and related expenses will be paid to recipient upon submission of verifiable receipts.
¿CUÁNDO SON LAS EXPEDICIONES? Al recibir la beca, los becarios tendrán la oportunidad de elegir la expedición y la experiencia que más les convenga. La mayoría de las expediciones tienen lugar en verano, entre la primera semana de junio y la tercera de agosto, y suelen durar entre 4 y 15 días, dependiendo del curso elegido.

¿QUIÉN PUEDE SOLICITARLO? Los estudiantes en los grados 9-12 de Scranton, West Scranton, Riverside, Old Forge, Mid Valley y Valley View escuelas secundarias son elegibles para aplicar para esta oportunidad única.

El Fondo Wilderness fue creado en 1998 por un donante anónimo con la convicción de que todos los niños necesitan la oportunidad de ver el mundo, explorar la naturaleza y descubrirse a sí mismos por el camino. Cada año desde su creación, el fondo ha proporcionado a varios estudiantes una beca para participar en el programa Outward Bound.
