2022 Roseann Smith Alperin Award
Women in Philanthropy and the Scranton Area Community Foundation invite you to nominate an individual for the 2022 Roseann Smith Alperin Award.
The Roseann Smith Alperin Award was established by the Junior League of Scranton to recognize an outstanding female volunteer who exhibits the heart and spirit of Roseann Smith Alperin by demonstrating the capacity to lead, motivate, and inspire others and the community she serves. The Roseann Smith Alperin Award honors an area woman who has the capacity to encourage others to make more of themselves and the community they serve.
Through this award, the award recipient has the opportunity to donate $500 to a nonprofit organization of their choice. The nonprofit organization who nominates the winning recipient also receives a $500 prize!
Criterios de selección
The selection committee is looking for nominees who are active volunteers and who foster excellence in volunteer service. The selection will be made based on the nominee being an outstanding woman who:
- Is a highly engaged volunteer and who demonstrates excellence in volunteer services
- Exhibits the capacity to lead, motivate, and inspire others to become highly engaged with the organizations she serves
- Serves as an active volunteer without being a figurehead
- Cultivates connections and introduces individuals to new causes
- Makes an impactful difference in the community

2022 Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award
Women in Philanthropy and the Scranton Area Community Foundation invite you to nominate an individual for the 2022 Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award
The Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award has been presented since 1992 when a fund was established by the family of Margaretta Belin Chamberlin both to honor her memory and to recognize accomplishments of women in our community while encouraging their personal and/or professional development.
Este premio se concede anualmente a una mujer cuya visión, dedicación y valentía hayan mejorado la calidad de vida y ampliado las oportunidades de las personas de su comunidad; y cuyos intereses creativos, energías y servicio a los demás hayan contribuido sustancialmente a la mejora de su comunidad.
La ganadora de este premio recibirá una dotación económica de 1.000 dólares con el fin de potenciar su papel como líder comunitaria interesada en mejorar la calidad de vida en el condado de Lackawanna.
Criterios de selección
En Premio Margaretta Belin Chamberlin is presented annually to a woman who demonstrates the following qualities:
- Commitment to community: to the well-being of individuals regardless of socio-economic status, race, religion, ethnic background, age or gender: and to the common good;
- Vision, creativity, innovation, and ingenuity in response to community need;
- Tolerance and sensitivity in response to the human condition;
- Achievement of goals which demonstrate commitment and creativity, and serve as a model and inspiration to others; and
- Demonstration of leadership in empowering and transforming the lives of women and girls in the community

The recipients of the Roseann Smith Alperin Award and the Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award will be presented at the Women in Philanthropy Annual Celebration on Jueves, Octubre 13th at the Hilton Scranton from 6:00-8:00 PM. More information about this hybrid event to follow.
